With the first and only U.S. vice presidential debate hours away, Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris are prepping in the wake of a COVID-19 outbreak within the White House.

With plexiglass and 3.6 meters (12 feet) between them, the pandemic is expected to be a key topic during the debate.

Polls from NBC News/Wall Street Journal and CNN show Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in the lead after his first debate with President Donald Trump.

Plagued with interruptions, the first presidential debate made headlines.

Some Americans who plan on watching Wednesday night’s vice presidential debate say they hope it will be more civil and that both candidates discuss their political platforms.
