COVID-19: Thousands of parade-supporting jobs disappear in Brazil

​Many Brazilians are still struggling to come to terms with Rio de Janeiro's decision to cancel its Carnival parade. ​

It is the the first time the iconic event, which had been set for February, has been interrupted in more than a century. 

Organizers say the health threat posed by COVID-19 is just too much. But beyond the loss of a celebration, Brazilians will also lose income as an estimated 25,000 parade-supporting jobs disappear.
