Brazil Vice President on reducing deforestation in the country

Brazil's management of the Amazon jungle has attracted much criticism from the international community because of a rise in deforestation. 

To try and tackle the issue, President ​Jair Bolsonaro appointed his vice-president, retired army general Hamilton Mourão to head the National Amazon Council, tasked with the creation and implementation of policies to preserve and develop the region. 

CGTN correspondent Paulo Cabral recently ​conducted an exclusive interview with General Mourão, who began by explaining how the country can make good on its promise to cut deforestation in half by 2023.
