A global effort to develop a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine has been interrupted. 

With the third highest number of infections in the world, Brazil had plenty of volunteers to test an experimental vaccine being co-developed by Brazilian and Chinese labs. 

But a domestic political feud could hinder its progress.
