A former Vice President under President Barack Obama, presumptive President-Elect Joe Biden is taking office during a global pandemic and an economic crisis.

The 77-year-old former senator of Delaware has used his decades of experience in government as staunch distinction between himself and U.S. president Donald Trump.

Throughout his campaign, Biden discussed several topics he’d address on his first day in office and the months that follow.

The Washington Post calls it a "nearly never-ending litany" of first-day promises.

From the pandemic, to economic crisis, to law enforcement, rebuilding U.S. relationships abroad, and climate change, Biden faces an extensive list of priorities for his first 100 days.

But whether or not he can accomplish most of these goals depends on if Democrats gain control of the Senate.

Here are some of the goals Biden said he'd like to accomplish:

In his final presidential debate with President Donald Trump, Biden said "I've made it very clear within 100 days I'm going to send to the United States Congress a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people, and all of those so-called Dreamers, those DACA kids, they're going to be immediately certified again to be able to stay in this country and put on a path to citizenship."

Biden has also said he wants to reverse tax cuts implemented during the Trump administration, create a national pandemic strategy, a housing task force, rejoin the Paris Agreement, and pass executive orders on climate change.

Biden said he would seek advice from the top infectious-disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and then appoint a "supply commander" to monitor the production and distribution of tests, vaccines, and personal protective equipment.

He would also implement a "pandemic board" to monitor more testing and give additional resources to fight COVID-19.

Biden has stated his first-day promises on social media, in interviews, and during speeches, the Washington Post reported:

"On my first day as President, I will rejoin the @WHO and restore our leadership on the world stage," he tweeted on July 7.

"Day 1, if I win, I’m going to be on the phone with our NATO allies saying we're back," he told KPNX in Phoenix on July 14. "We're back and you can count on us again."

"I will end the Muslim ban on Day 1," Biden said in July at a virtual event hosted by Emgage Action, a Muslim advocacy organization. "Day 1. I'll work with Congress to pass hate crime legislation."
