Deforestation in the Amazon surged to its highest rate since 2008 ​this summer, according to official figures.

Brazil is under heavy pressure from the international community to halt the destruction but current signs are not promising.

Our correspondent Paulo Cabral traveled to one of the areas with the highest rate ​of destruction in the state of Para to take a closer look.
