Many frontline workers throughout India received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines Saturday, in the start of what is expected to become India's largest national vaccine campaign in history. India is hoping to inoculate 300 million people against COVID-19 by July. It could take up to two years to vaccinate all 1.4 billion Indians. The Indian government is using two vaccines, the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine, and a vaccine developed by Indian company Bharat Biotech, which is still in phase 3 clinical trials. Vaccination is voluntary.
