U.S., Russia salvage nuclear treaty

The U.S. and Russia have salvaged the last remaining treaty keeping their nuclear weapons in check days before it was due to expire.

The world’s biggest nuclear powers have agreed to extend the deal by five years.

But that belies a very limited appetite for getting rid of nuclear weapons altogether.
