Nursing homes in the U.S. have been hit hard by the pandemic. About a third of all U.S. COVID-19 deaths can be linked to them.
The industry now claims it is on life-support and is asking for more taxpayer funds to cover COVID-19 related costs. Critics disagree saying what the industry needs is to be better regulated.
