Protests against a military power grab in Myanmar have spread as far as Tokyo, Japan. Many demonstrations are taking place around the world as the military and former vice president who is now the acting president of Myanmar took power after claiming election fraud.

The country's former leaders, including its de facto head, Aung San Suu Kyi have reportedly been detained. The U.S. government has threatened sanctions against the country and a U.N. Security Council emergency session was called to address the issue.
