A total of 106 bills have recently been filed by various Republican U.S. state legislators to tighten election rules, generally making it harder to vote. Here's what you need to know.
Arizona and Georgia state Republicans are pushing to roll back no-excuse absentee voting. In Georgia, a bill is being considered that would require absentee voters to send a photocopy of their ID twice in order to vote.
Another proposal in Arizona would let the Legislature override the state's certification of electoral votes and decide the outcome of presidential elections. Bills in Arizona, Mississippi, and Wisconsin would get rid of the winner-take-all electoral vote count, in preference of awarding by congressional districts.
Many more bills are on the table to be debated in Republican-controlled state legislators.
