On his first day in office, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order to halt construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

The wall was a controversial campaign promise by former President Donald Trump, who wanted to make Mexico pay for it. Instead, the US government ​spent billions, while Trump scaled back his grand vision for the wall and today, ​the effectiveness of the portions completed are debatable at best.
