Myanmar's military is set to release more than 23,000 prisoners

Myanmar's military is set to release more than 23,000 prisoners on Friday to mark Union Day, Gen. Min Aung Hlaing said in a statement, after the military seized power.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners was concerned that the amnesty was to "clear space for the detention of political prisoners."
