The building that was once the popular Trump Plaza Casino was demolished in Atlantic City Wednesday morning. Former President Trump opened it in 1984 but it began to decline after he opened the nearby Trump Taj Mahal in 1990.

Trump lost the building in a 2009 bankruptcy but his name remained on it as part of a licensing agreement until it closed its doors in 2009. The city invited the public to watch the blighted property implode.

The owner of the site billionaire Carl Icahn will redevelop it but it will be a parking lot temporarily.  Rubble from the demolition might be used to build an artificial fishing reef off the coast.
