Texas declared major disaster area, more aid offered state
As the weather warmed up in Texas and in other southern states that have been hit by unseasonable cold weather this week, many lined up for water and supplies.
President Joe Biden has declared the weather impacts in Texas a major disaster, which will send more federal aid to state and local recovery efforts.
Texas was hit with severe winter storms beginning Feb. 11.

Biden had approved an emergency declaration in Texas last weekend, but the new declaration will allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency to offer more aid and resources such as insurance aid to help people deal with costs.
At least 69 people have died in the U.S. due to this spate of unseasonable weather.
