Finding solutions to replace single use plastics in Mexico

​During a year the UN secretary-general has called "crucial" in the fight against climate change, the focus on environmental sustainability is more urgent than ever. In Mexico, a new product that seeks to replace single-use plastics is generating notice. 

The nopal – or prickly pear ​cactus – a symbol of Mexico around the world. It’s featured on the country’s national flag, is commonly eaten here, and is now helping Mexico in its quest to be more environmentally sustainable.

CGTN’s Alasdair Baverstock ​reports.
