The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine appears to be highly effective toward the Brazil COVID-19 variant, according to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Public health experts warn variants like the more contagious one that originated in Brazil could bring another surge in cases across the U.S.

The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill on Wednesday.

House Democratic leaders are confident the plan will be approved. If it is, the bill will be sent to President Biden to sign.

Novavax is making a booster for its COVID-19 vaccine and says vaccinated people might need a booster every six months or year to stay protected from the virus, CNN reports.

The company says they are seeing a "big decline in antibodies" after six months.

The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine is given in two doses, three weeks apart.

But the vaccine is still in phase 3 of clinical trials in the U.S. and Mexico.

U.S. public health experts say there is a light at the end of the tunnel but it's still too early to drop COVID-19 safety measures.

Although new COVID-19 cases are dropping and daily vaccinations are rising, there are still millions of sick people.

Experts are also warning of the spread of contagious variants across the country.

Specifically the UK variant, which is appearing in 30% to 40% of COVID-19 cases in the country, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota told CNN.

U.S. Senator Tim Kaine and others have introduced the COVID-19 Mental Health Research Act to U.S. Congress, in efforts to gain a better understanding of the virus and its impact.

The legislation will study the virus and how it has affected the mental health of Americans.

It would authorize $100 million each year for five years to fund research on the issue.

Recent reports have shown depression and anxiety has been on the rise across the nation because of the pandemic.
