U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry emphasized the role of private sector in combating the climate change, at the Institute of International Finance’s 2021 Washington Policy Summit earlier this week.

In his remarks, Kerry said that he was and remains convinced that the government won’t be the ultimate solution for the climate change problem.

“The solution is going to come from the private sector, and what government needs to do is create the framework within which the private sector can do what it does best,” Kerry said. “Which is allocate capital and innovate and begin to take the framework that’s been created. We need to go after this as if we’re really at war.”

Kerry highlighted that competition towards more environment-friendly technology also means great business opportunity.
