The unprecedented maritime traffic jam outside the Suez Canal has grown to more than 200 vessels Friday.  Some cargo ships are changing course as salvaging experts, dredgers and tugboats work to free the Ever Given, one of the world’s largest container ships, from where it is wedged in the canal.

Experts are saying it could up to a week to free the vessel, after an attempt to free it Friday failed.  International assistance has been welcomed by the Suez Canal Authority.  The White House press secretary said the U.S. is “consulting with our Egyptian partners about how we can best support their efforts.”
