Would you just stand there if an Asian person was attacked?
A 65-year-old Asian woman was attacked on the streets of New York Monday.
The lone attacker is still at large. Two witnesses can be seen on camera doing nothing to help as the man shouted racial slurs. Police are asking for the public’s assistance finding the attacker.
U.S. President Biden announced new actions Tuesday in the wake of increased anti-Asian violence in the U.S.
The announcements include:
Establishing a COVID-19 Equity Task Force committee to address and end xenophobia against Asian Americans. Reinstating and reinvigorating the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), with initial focus on anti-Asian bias and violence, and funding for AAPI survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
