Groups of migrants are seen crossing the Rio Grande river under the cover of darkness on March 30, 2021.

Several adults and children were seen aboard an inflatable dinghy that crossed the river in their attempt to enter the United States.

They crossed just a few kilometers from Roma, Texas.

"God made a miracle," one of the migrants said after crossing the river.

More than 2 million undocumented migrants are expected to cross U.S.-Mexico border by the end of the 2021 fiscal year, mainly from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol arrested over 170,000 migrants at the border in March, the highest monthly number since 2006.

When U.S. President Joe Biden took office in January, he halted construction of former president Donald Trump's border wall. The new administration has prompted more crossings by migrants.

CGTN Correspondent Liu Xu said it only took a few minutes for each group of migrants to cross.

After dropping off one batch, the boat returned to the other side to ferry more people.

Liu counted seven groups of people being transported within a half hour.

Nearby, U.S. Border Patrol and the U.S. National Guard waited to detain the undocumented migrants.

Under rules passed in the Trump administration, border officials will send back migrants that are single adults or adults with children due to COVID-19 concerns.

Children traveling alone will be placed in U.S. custody as asylum claims are processed.
