“I think this would be a good time for a beer,” U.S. President Roosevelt said when he signed the 1933 Act that would eventually lead to the Eighteenth Amendment being repealed in the United States.
What the Cullen-Harrison Act did do was redefine an “intoxicating beverage” under the Volstead Act, and made April 7 a beer-specific holiday in the U.S.Here’s to everyone taking a break to enjoy a cold one during these strange times around the world.
