Minnesota police allegedly shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright, a Black man, in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis Sunday afternoon.

Protests raged throughout the night where demonstrators were allegedly hit with rubber bullets, tear gas and flash bang grenades.

The Brooklyn Center police department has asked the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate.

Minneapolis is the city where former police officer Derek Chauvin is currently on trial for killing George Floyd.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he was praying for the 20-year-old’s family “as our state mourns another life of a Black man taken by law enforcement.”

In a statement, Brooklyn Center police said they stopped a motorist after determining there was an outstanding arrest warrant for him. Police say the driver got back in the vehicle and an officer shot him.
