Japanese government opens mass inoculation centers

With two months before the Tokyo Olympics, the Japanese government opened a number of mass inoculation centers, with doctors and nurses giving elderly people a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Only 2.1% of the country’s population has been fully vaccinated, so Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s gambit is meant to accelerate its vaccination rollout and curb infections as the country faces the fourth wave of the virus.
