In the wreath-laying ceremony Monday morning at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, U.S. President Biden honored American veterans along with Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for the National Memorial Day observance.

At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Biden paid tribute to America’s fallen soldiers, saying in his somber speech that “all those we honor today gave their lives for the country, but they live forever in our hearts.”

“They’re the guardians of us and we’re the guardians of their legacy,” Biden said of those who served in the armed forces. “Despite all the pain, I know the pride you feel in the loved one you have lost.”

HOW PEOPLE COMMEMORATED
