Oriel Maria Siu is professor, a mother, and a children's book author.

Her first children's book, "Rebeldita the Fearless" ("Rebeldita la Alegre" in Spanish) broke new ground by addressing the serious topics of immigration to the U.S. from Central America and family separation. 

Her second book, "Christopher the Ogre Cologre, It's Over!" addresses the European conquest of North America. 

CGTN sat down with Siu from her home in San Pedro Sula, Honduras to discuss why she had to write these books and how people should talk to children about these very real global issues.
