UN approves Guterres to second term as Secretary-General

Antonio Guterres has been appointed by the United Nations General Assembly to serve a second term as Secretary-General keeping him in office until 2027. There were seven other candidates for the role, but none received an endorsement by a UN member state. Guterres says he’s continuing his role as the world’s top diplomat during a critical moment in history.
