U.S. semiconductor industry and global chip shortage

In Washington, the House of Representatives is debating sweeping legislation designed to help the U.S. compete with China in the tech sphere. 

The bill, which has already been passed by the Senate, includes funding to boost the U.S. semiconductor industry amid a global shortage of microchips. 

As Giles Gibson reports, they’re found in everything from washing machines to cars.
