California's largest inland lake shows effects of drought

The Salton Sea in inland Southern California is a landlocked body of water with a high concentration of salts.  

The area around it can be one of the hottest and driest parts of the state.   

It is also California’s largest inland lake, and shows the dramatic effects of the worst drought the state has experienced since 1977.
