Imagine you and your family getting HIV because your doctor reused needles. That’s the reality for thousands right now in Pakistan after a whistle- blower doctor uncovered a scandal in 2019. 

One state-employed doctor infected over 900 children with HIV in one village by reusing dirty needles. The pediatrician was fired, but his victims still suffer. 

Pakistan's largest HIV testing and treatment center was established in this rural town in the wake of the disaster. There they dish out life-saving anti-retroviral drugs. But the government is telling affected families they have to cover the costs of their treatments. The doctor who uncovered the 2019 scandal says needle re-use is happening all over Pakistan.
