California has seen its first spike in COVID-19 cases for the first time in months, but certain ethnic groups appear to be affected far more than others. 

The latest numbers from the state's largest county Los Angeles show that Black residents are at greater risk of getting infected, hospitalized, or dying from coronavirus than any other group. A similar racial gap also exists in the vaccination rates.
