Drier than average conditions in many, often unexpected parts of the world are leading to tinderbox conditions that result in wildfires.
This week there are 78 active wildfires burning in the western United States.
Some scientists say this year's fires are worse than normal, with firefighters in British Columbia, Russia, Greece, Cyprus, dealing with large, high intensity fires this summer.
