Myocarditis and mRNA vaccines for children

Scientists in the U.S. and elsewhere say children are a big part of achieving so-called ‘herd immunity’ and stopping the mass transmission of the virus and preventing more variants from emerging. 

But the U.K. is holding off on vaccinating most British children until more data emerges. 

There is some concern about reports of myocarditis and pericarditis, inflamed heart muscle, among a small number of adolescent boys and girls after the second shot of an mRNA vaccine.
