Mexico City marked the fall of the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, 500 years ago to Spanish forces on Friday.

A replica of the towering Templo Mayor, the Aztec’s most sacred site, was built in the downtown area, to celebrate the history and culture of the Indigenous civilization of Mexico.
