A number of local authorities in the United States have reintroduced mask mandates for indoor settings as the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country continues to rise. But some states have banned officials from enforcing mask wearing, saying it should be a personal choice, triggering a widespread debate on the necessity of wearing masks even as the pandemic continues.
