Taliban forces cordoned off Kabul's airport to most Afghans, as the majority of NATO nations flew their troops out of Afghanistan Saturday after twenty years in the country.
The U.S. is continuing with its airlifts ahead of the Tuesday deadline for withdrawal.
The U.S. State Department released a statement Sunday saying that it will hold the Taliban to their public commitments to allow people to leave Afghanistan after August 31.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson said there are still about 250 self-identified Americans still in Afghanistan who are either undecided about leaving the country or do not plan to evacuate.
A Taliban spokesperson on Sunday told CNN it condemns a U.S. drone strike against a vehicle with an alleged ISIS-K suicide bomber in Kabul, saying the move violates Afghanistan's sovereignty.
