Many Americans were on the move over the long Labor Day holiday weekend, traveling, attending events and enjoying public spaces, with beaches and national parks being major draws.
A surge in COVID-19 cases in the country due to the Delta variant, and a recommendation by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director that unvaccinated people should not travel at all may have kept crowds smaller than previous years.
The CDC also recommends vaccinated people continue to wear masks in public.
Labor Day in the U.S. is a federal holiday to recognize the American labor movement and the contributions laborers have made to the development and accomplishments of the United States.
