NGO pays landowners to protect forests in Brazilian farms

The tropical forests in the Brazilian Amazon are disappearing at an alarming rate because of deforestation. 

Convincing farmers not to clear areas is a big challenge. One way to do that is financially compensating landowners for maintaining the forests.

CGTN’s Paulo Cabral travelled to the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso to see a project that’s been doing just that.
