Public schools reopen in Brazil amid COVID-19 pandemic

Public schools in Brazil have started to reopen after more than a year and a half of empty classrooms as online instruction has been unavailable to many students who do not have internet access. 

Nevertheless, the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage. In Rio de Janeiro - a Delta variant hotspot - one teachers’ union is calling for closures once again.
