The 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly officially opens in New York on Tuesday.
It kicks off nearly three weeks of meetings and conferences, including the high-level General Debate, attracting political leaders from across the world.
This year COVID-19, climate change and recent events in Afghanistan are expected to dominate the discourse.
But the pandemic means the event will once again be a mostly virtual affair.
