Thousands of migrants are crossing the dangerous Darien Gap, a stretch of jungle between Colombia and Panama, as they make their way north toward the U.S.

Most of these migrants are Haitian, according to Panamanian government sources.

Thousands more migrants are waiting in the Colombian beach town of Necocli for their turn to cross through the Darien Gap.

Panama called for international assistance at the 2021 United Nations General Assembly.

So far this year, 88,514 migrants have entered the country through the Gap.
