At least 30 inmates are dead and dozens more injured after a fight between rival gangs in an Ecuadorian prison.

At least five of those dead were decapitated, others were shot, and prisoners used grenades, according to a police commander.

It took 400 police officers to regain control of the Guayaquil prison, said the regional governor.
