People throughout China celebrated the country’s National Day on Friday, marking the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.  

Thousands of people traveled ahead of the “Golden Week” holiday, visiting places like Yu Garden and the Bund along the Huangpu River in Shanghai, and the Forbidden City in Beijing. 

Flag-raising ceremonies were held across the country, including the capital Beijing and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao, on Friday morning.
