What is Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the United States?

U.S. President Biden was the first president to acknowledge that Monday is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, honoring Native Americans who have faced genocide, assimilation and discrimination since the founding of the U.S.  

But it’s still not an official federal holiday.
