Hurricane Ida displaces caskets, vaults in its wake
CGTN

The state of Louisiana is still reeling from the damage and destruction from Hurricane Ida two months ago, which ripped the roofs from buildings and destroyed people’s homes. The storm also wrought destruction on the dead causing caskets and vaults to be moved due to the storm’s power.

The state’s location in a hurricane-prone region, coupled with the burial practice of laying the dead to rest above ground, made the problem of caskets emerging common. A task force was established to survey cemeteries to assess the damage.
