NASA launched a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket with the Lucy spacecraft aboard on Saturday from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in the U.S. state of Florida.
Lucy, named after the oldest fossilized human ancestor, will be the first spacecraft to study the Trojan Asteroids of Jupiter.
The mission seeks to revolutionize human knowledge of planetary origins and the formation of the solar system.
