In Mexican and LatinX cultures, Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated on November 1 to honor deceased loved ones with memories, mementos, food, music and special altars.

Skulls and sugar skulls represent the departed.

In San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas, the celebrations started early Friday night, with parades, mariachi, and festivities coinciding with the Halloween weekend.
