Vegans worldwide are celebrating World Vegan Day. Originally established to commemorate the start of the UK Vegan Society and celebrate the term "vegan,"  the day is now celebrated worldwide in a variety of ways.

In London, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) animal rights activists staged a 'die-in' to show the suffering of animals in the meat, egg, and dairy industries.
