CGTN America launches Day 2 of Global Action Initiative 2021

Day 2 of CGTN America's Global Action Initiative 2021 took a deep dive on the importance of bio-diversity in the fight against climate change. CGTN spoke to multiple thought leaders on why it is so important to protect the ecological balance on our planet.

CGTN America visited the U.S. Botanic Garden in the Washington D.C. and spoke with Saharah Moon Chapotin, the Executive Director of the U.S. Botanic Garden, on the importance of bio-diversity or eco-system and why its preservation is key in our fight against climate change.

Neville Ash, the Director of UNEP's World Conservation Monitoring Centre, explained why the engagements of heads of state is crucial for a collaborative effort to fight climate change and highlights China's tremendous progress in increasing forest area in the last 25 years. 

Known as the "Godfather" of Biodiversity, Prof. Thomas Lovejoy explained the dire state of Bio-Diversity on our planet today and what needs to be done to reverse the damage.

In addition, the show highlighted the migration of a herd of wild Asian elephant in China that captured the attention of world! Jinfeng Zhou, Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation & Green Development Foundation, discussed what that story says about China's goal to preserve bio-diversity.
