The psychological and economic consequences that impoverished women face during their menstrual cycles has only recently come to light globally and has sparked a movement to address the issue.

In Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro vetoed a congressional bill that would have funded a program for millions of disadvantaged girls to have access to free sanitary pads and tampons.

Doctor Leila Brollo, a Brazilian gynecologist and professor shares her opinions on this issue.
